Lex in Grimwald

During the second year of university (2009), we were asked to produce a level design document based on a concept selected by the lecturer. That year, the concept involved Lex, an obnoxious cheerleader, been magically transported to a dark fairy tale realm. The genre and details of the game was left to us but our level would have to take place inside a Dark Wood.

I took this opportunity to develop the characters, story and set the basic game mechanics. I also wrote a sample of the dialogues and a brief description of the cinematics that would be used in it.

DOCUMENTATION SAMPLES

Since games development is a combination of art and design in a team environment, I strive to produce clear and concise documentation that will not only convey the necessary information but will also save time and wasted effort from the development team. I always make quick concept images in Photoshop .psd format, so that the rest of the team has a concrete visual guide to the project.

Below you can find some samples of documentation I wrote during my university years. Unfortunately, due to contractual obligations I am unable to provide the more recent documentation I compiled during my work experience.

Solaris Wars

During the second year of university (2009), we were asked to produce a Game Design Bible for an original game of our choosing. We had to work as a team, assigning roles and developing the documentation in as great detail as possible.

After a vote, we decided to develop a turn based strategy title for mobile platforms. I was elected team leader and proceeded to develop the project, set tasks according to the individual strengths of the team's members, organizing weekly meetings and contributing in the areas of Game Mechanics, Rules, UI and Concept art. The end result was well received and all members of the team received top marks.
